A Christmas Engagement

Mine & Hopper's family have done Christmas Eve together for the last couple of years, so this was not out of the ordinary.
On the night of December 24, 2017, my family got in their car & sped out of our cove to get to the Seely's house. I was in the car with Hopper, & was thinking to myself "geez, we are not even late, slow down!!!"
Before pulling out of the driveway, I couldn't remember if I had unplugged the curling iron & I didn't want to be the one that burned down the house, so I ran back inside, unintentionally prolonging our arrival to Christmas Eve dinner at Hopper's house. When I came back outside to the car, Hopper's mom had texted him & said that we needed to go by his aunt's house because she had left all of the drinks there. I started to worry because now he & I were going to be SUPER late, but he played it off & acted like it was not a big deal (I was high key stressing at this point).
After picking up the drinks at his aunt's house, Hopper sped all the way down the back windy roads that led to his parent's house. I knew we were running late, but I could not figure out why he seemed so uneasy...little did I know. When we got to his house, I noticed that his family had decorated the front porch just like a Hallmark movie. I said to Hopper, "Oh wow, the Seely's are bumping up their Christmas game." (jokes on me) Then, as Hopper led me to the front door, I started to notice the yellow (my favorite color next to pink) rose petals & tea light candles lining the walkway to the front door. As we approached the front door, he stopped me, turned me to face him, and grabbed my hands. My heart skipped many many many beats. It was not until this moment, that I knew what was about to happen. He got down on one knee & asked me to marry him!

His sisters were hiding in his dad's truck the whole time taking pictures. His future brother-in-law loaned him his Go Pro to set up on the porch to video the whole thing (thankful for this because my mind went blank when he got down on one knee... I couldn't remember what he said)! There was so much thought & meaning tied up in the entire proposal. Even the tree toppers had nutcrackers on them (I have a severe obsession with nutcrackers & own nearly a hundred of them in my personal collection).
When we walked inside, not only was I greeted by my family and his family, but by my best friend since elementary school, Emma. Emma & her family were right inside the door and caught me by total surprise. It honestly brings joyful tears to my eyes when I think about how I felt in that exact moment.
The entire proposal held so much meaning. My engagement ring was styled around a Seely family diamond that was his paternal grandmother's diamond & then his mom's diamond. Hopper, his mom, & his sister's used this diamond & created the most "Chandler-ish" ring I could have ever even dreamed of. The ring itself holds so much sentiment. Hopper made Christmas of 2017 something so special for me, my family, and his family. Having lost my dad unexpectedly in March of 2017, it was becoming challenging to get into the holiday cheer & spirit. We were all dreading the "first Christmas" without my dad. I will forever be thankful for the smiles he put on my family's face that Christmas.
